What is an SOP?
A standard operating procedure (SOP) is a written description of how a recurring task is done in your business: the steps, who does each one and what "done" looks like. Good SOPs keep work consistent between shifts and people, make it quicker to train new staff and give you something concrete to improve when things go wrong.
Many small businesses keep their procedures in people's heads. That works until someone is ill, leaves or is new. Writing a procedure down once, as a flowchart for the overview, a step list for the detail and a checklist for the daily routine, fixes that.

Frequently asked questions
Are these SOP templates free?
Yes. Every template on this site is free to read, print and copy into your own documents. There is no sign-up and nothing to install.
Can I change a template for my business?
Yes, and you should. Each template lists the things most businesses adapt, such as the roles, the timing and the checks that depend on local rules. Copy it as text into your own document, edit it, and share it with your team.
Do these templates cover the law in my country?
No. Rules for food safety, employment, cleaning products and consumer rights differ per country and region. The templates point out where local rules apply; check those with your local authority or adviser before you rely on a procedure.
How do I print just the checklist?
Open a template and choose Print checklist. You get the checklist on its own, without the rest of the page, ready for a clipboard or the wall. Print SOP gives you the flowchart and the numbered steps.
